Independent Prescribing
As Independent Prescribing Optometrists we are able to clinically assess a patient, establish a diagnosis, determine a clinical management plan and prescribe licensed medication to treat the condition where necessary.
Children’s Eyecare
Scott Gilmour Optometrists are passionate about children’s eyecare and are accredited by Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital. We aim to make their visit relaxed and enjoyable. Good vision is critical to a child’s early educational, functional and social development. Healthy eyesight can contribute to a healthy start in life.
Eye Health
Our practice is part of the NHS Grampian Eye Health Network which allows Scott Gilmour Optometrists to treat emergency eye problems. If you are experiencing an eye issue contact the practice where we will endeavour to see you as a priority. The practice has close links with Ophthalmologists who provide consultations at Albyn Hospital where private referrals can be arranged.
Dry Eyes
Dry eyes can occur when your eyes don’t produce enough tears or if there is a gap in the protective tear film allows moisture to be lost. We can perform a detailed assessment of your tear film and anterior eye using our in-house specialised equipment and recommend treatments to alleviate associated discomfort. We stock a range of dry eye preservative free products.
Blepharitis
We specialise in the treatment of Blepharitis and eyelid problems which can lead to dry eye symptoms. For Blepharitis, which is inflammation/bacterial infection affecting the eyelids and eyelashes we offer specialised cleaning of the lids and lashes using the BlephEx surgical micro sponge. We also provide eyelid cleaning products to manage the Blepharitis and a range of lubricants to help with discomfort.
